friend has an old packerd bell pc, it originaly had 98 2nd ed and he upgraded it to xp pro. he's now wanting to restore it to factory settings using the original cds. When he tries to run the cd it comes up with a driver error (dll missing). Has xp changed these drivers (don't know exact driver).Do you know if 98 will still be there or will xp delete it. sorry i don't have all the details, but if needed then i'll get them.

thanks in advance

Download a boot disk from click here to the desktop, then send to a floppy.

Start the PC with the floppy in the drive.

" and he upgraded it to xp pro."

Then they may be a chance that the 98 system files were kept. You can easily check this. Open control panel in XP and go to add and remove programmes. If un-install XP or delete windows 98 files are listed, then you should be able to take the PC to pre-XP.

This could take the machine back to the PB settings and may be able to run the restore disk.
