Trying to get Vista laptop to boot from cd/dvd?

Hi, in attempting to install windows7 on a partition of my mum's vista latop, i've made the partition but cant get the laptop to boot from the dvd, please can anyone help me with this?

Have you been into the BIOS to mske sure that the CD drive is listed as the first boot device? Do you know how to do that?

First check BIOS is set to boot first from CD, also check by starting and tapping F8, to boot from CD it may be in the list under safe mode, as some restore CD work that way

The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5315 if that helps?

Hi, i've got to the bios and is the option i should choose 'IDE 1: MATSHITADVD-RAM UJ-850S'
or
'USB CDROM'??

select this as first option

you need to look at boot options, set cd to first followed by hard drive
