Your laptop out put will be an S-video socket (small round multi pin usually coloured yellow).

What connectors do you have on the TV? scart / RCA?

No, my laptop does not have a S-video yellow socket.

But it has a blue socket with 15 pins in and my tv has the same socket but it only has 9 pins.

blue socket with 15 pins, is to connect a external monitor not TV. S-Video is a black socket looks a bit like a PS/2 socket

Sorry, what does the PS/2 socket look like?

I have not got one of those on my laptop.

Does that mean that I cannot connect my laptop to my tv or is there another way?
