Trojan Horse "Startpage.5.BA"

  IDT 17:09 20 Jun 04

Can anyone help,please.
My son is running IE 5.50.4134 with operating system Windows ME.
His AVG virus check has identified a Trojan horse virus "Startpage.5.BA" being present in his system. He has tried a restore but the virus is still present in the system but appears to be dormant(?). The AVG checker CANNOT remove the offending virus which currently does not affect the opening of IE5.50, originally it conected the system to porn sites via the search engine.
Any suggestions to identify the actual programme files and cure?

Read this page and then run the virus check again. Don't forget to restore System Restore afterwards. click here

When you have done what pj123 has suggested get Spybot from

to protect you in the future and also clean out any other Trojans that are lurking in your machine.

I too not impressed at having to fork out more cash to continue using PC-cillin services.

See earlier thread click here

Not sure whether to change to another AV company because of this
