Trojan horse downloader.small.4.D

whenever my system is idle for more than 10 minutes I get a message from AVG resident Shield telling me that it has identified a virus - Trojan horse Downloader.small.4.D in C:\system volume information|_restore{4456961A-D668-4972-B866-ED1AE38DBB39}-|RP36|A0011878.exe.

have run AVG complete search which has found nothing on the drive.

I am running XP Pro and have set C: to display all hidden files and folders but cannot find the abovementioned folder.

Other threads seem to point to windows system restore, but I dont use this but prefer to rely on Norton Goback.

can anyone suggest a way to remedy this please.

many thanks

Delete the restore points as the virus is stuck in them.

Thanks Powerless,

Do I need to turn the restore on and then off again as said earlier, I dont use system restore but use Goback instead.

Turn it off to delete.

You can turn it back on if you want.
