Trojan Banker BQQ keeps getting in.

  Ineke 10:31 28 Apr 07

Three times this week Spybot spotted the Banker BQQ trojan in our pc.
We keep removing it, but it keeps coming back.
We use zone alarm, AVG, apply Spybot regularly and also Adaware, but ... we run Windows Me and I do believe people have giving up supplying updates for this ancient but perfectly adequate OS.
We do not open email attachments, unless we expect them.
Any advice?

try turning of system restore it may be lurking in there however you will lose your restore points
also download/update and run this program

sorry didnt read properly that you have me not xp

You need a good spyware program to get rid of could try A Squared but I am sure someone may come up with a better one.

from what my search on google says about it click here

you may well wish to get a log checked out on this specialist forum click here

follow down to what it tells you about registering and posting logs

also you could run this lot

but I would strongly advise getting on to the malaware forum for their expert guidance

??do you know from where you got this thing?

Try running Spybot & A squared in safe mode - sometimes more effective.

what does the avg scanner say? and try running the scans once fully updated, in safe mode

you may well wish to get a log checked out as, if you do have this thing on there, my understanding of these infections is that they can do a lot of harm to you and your comp; but choice is yours::))

We tried everything and something did the trick. The trojan has gone and not returned. We never found where it came from.
Thank you all for your help.

Great stuff, though it's probably time to think about a new OS - Me was never great and I think support for it eithe has ceased or will cease soon, which means there won't be any further patches. Glad you got shot of ithe Trojan: I'd keep a sharp eye on statements for any cards you use online for the next couple of months.
