My frind has XP Home and his Homepage has been hijacked. He ran Norton which was unable to remove it.Followong a thread last night on here he turned off system restore and scanned again.Ater this Norton gave him the all clear.Unfortunately it is still working. It pops up porn addresses and all sorts and adds addresses to his favourites. The address in the URL box is C:\searchpage.html.He has tried adaware and at this moment is running Spybot S and D.Is anybody familiar with this or have you any suggestions.

Try Startpage Guard as well. It stopped mine from changing every week.

Well,I have just had a go at removing this trojan.I tried Spybot which identified Three suspects. We tried to get rid of them after switching off system restore, but they are still there.I then downloaded stinger and ran that through. This again identified but failed to remove. This is the print out from Skybot.
Common hijacker:prefix change(registry change,nothing done).
HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentersion\URL\Prefixes\www=http://
HKEY-(AS ABOVE)URL\DefaultPrefix\=http:/
DoubleClick: Tracking cookie or cookie of tracking site(File, nothing done)
C:\Documents and settings\Brian Gason\Cookies\brain [email protected](1).txt
If anyone recognises this or can put a name to the trojan I would appreciate it.

Try at click here where there are comprehensive instructions on posting a HijackThis log. They do not post well on this site (formatting and 800 word limit).

Thanks for that one VoG™.I will give it a good read.I am waiting to hear from my mate if any of the other trojan removers recommended on hear have done the trick.I suspect he has gone to the club to drown his frustrations.
