Tray Icon Error

  Graham ® 17:28 14 May 06

Sometimes when I resume from standby I get an Alert box with the message 'Tray Icon Error'. I can OK it away, but it's now puzzling me!

Nothing in Event Viewer.

Have you tried sfc /scannow

  Graham ® 19:01 14 May 06

Ah, your favourite! I'll try it now.

  Graham ® 19:27 14 May 06

Nothing found.

You could try clearing the Past Items from the Notification Area to see if it clears the error message click here

I've used PastIconsFlusher in the past click here

Because it involves ending Explorer.exe you'll probably find that some of your systray icons don't reappear even though the programs will still be running. A reboot will bring back the icons.

What Icons are in the System Tray?
Maybe a program you installed doesn't like Standby?

You could try a proper reboot.

Try this there is an option to show missing icons and also repair icons

Also in TweakUI under "Repair" there is an option to Rebuild Icons.
