I recently installed a new hard drive as slave and used xcopy c:\*.* /e/h/k/r/c/d: to transfer from my old drive (master) to the new one. However, for some reason, Office 2000 did not transfer so I am unable to access Word or Excel or any of my documents on the new drive. What did I do wrong?

For a start was the new drive formatted the same as the old one?

Try xcopy c:\*.* /E/V/G/H/K/O

You must have a space between xcopy and c:\*.* and a space between *.* and /e and a space between /c and d:
You do not need a / after /c

I would reformat your new drive and try again.

I thought the command was xxcopy c:\ d:\ /clone ?

That's the one I've been using to back up the entire drive..

Mix up between xxcopy & xcopy. Download free xxcopy from click here Either Run or in a DOS box type xxcopy C:\ D:\ /clone
