Transferring home videos to DVD

I know this isn't strictly PC, but it is hi-tech and I'm dopey enough to need help.

My VCR has finally died, and I am now wondering if I should replace it, or buy a DVD recorder, and transfer from a borrowed VCR.

Would that work?

Alternatively is there such a thing as a DVD recorder and VCR combined.

Anyone got any ideas.

Yes it would work. I have recently purchased a dvd recorder and linked it up to my vcr.
Easy when you follow the instructions supplied with your dvd. Believe me if you can follow the instructions that comes with most videos it's a piece of cake.
Dvd recorder and vcr combined, never seen one.
