Transfer Settings Files etc.

My grandson wants some assistance in transferring his huge picture folder and other data to his new computer. Both are laptops.
He was thinking of burning to DVD and transfering that way. I propose recommending that he use a serial cable connection & use the Windows Files & Settings Transfer Wizard. Is the Transfer effectively a copying system which will leave all the folders/files etc. on the old computer - meaning afterwards they would have to be cleaned off before selling it to his friend.

If he's thinking of burning the pics to a DVD why bother to transfer them. Assuming you want to tranfer you can either 'select all', 'cut' and 'paste' to a new folder on the other Laptop or copy the files across and then delete them from the old one. At least that way you'll be able to check that none of the pics are corrupt on the new one before deleting them

Thank you sil_ver & VoG™ for your prompt reply. He needs all the images on his new machine but I know what to do now.
