I have installed a new 20gb hard drive on my computer and made it the master drive and the old 6.5gb drive the slave. I would like to know in great detail how how I can transfer all the files and software such as Norton Systemworks,Lotus Smartsuite, Outlook Express a detailed explanation of how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Kind regard Benji.

To transfer only your data is easy enough, but to transfer your programs is a little different. You have to "clone" the smaller drive and transfer that clone to the larger drive. To do that you need some specialised software like Norton Ghost. A full tutorial on how to do it can be seen if you click here and scroll do near the bottom of the page.

MAJ is right, you need software to 'clone' your existing drive, I have spare copies of Drive Image 5 and TrueImage, either of which will do the job for you, if you need one just mail me (the envelope by my name).

Why no simply have the new drive as the slave to start with, go into Windows Explorer and just copy the whole disk over to the new one, swith the comptuer off and change over the master and slave jumpers on the two drives and start it up again. Won't this make the new drive the C drive? Any thoughts?

Another thought. Why not put the new drive in as a slave and leave everthing else as it is. Supposing that is that the machine works ok now. Use the small drive for your software and the new 20 gig for data storage.
