I believe you are trying to do this in Paint. You would be better off using IrfanView click here and look at the Help in there.

Good luck.

The only thing I know that does this reliably is Serif photoplus which sadly is not free. I can think of ways of bodgeing it but they'd all be very fiddley [whiting out the pixels you don't want and then go to Gifworks click here and transparentising the whited out surround.Photoshop is sure to do it but is MUCH more expensive than the Serif prog.

You can use the Lasso tool for this job. Trace round the subject and copy and Paste it into your other picture.

Here are a couple of sites to visit for tutorials on image manipulation.

What you want to do is usually covered by 'LAYERS'.

Or by using the cloning tool from one photo to another.

Have a look at these sites and if this does not answer your questions post back.

I think you will need something like Paintshop pro or some other such programme. Not sure if IRFANVIEW will cope very well.

You might like to try SERIF Photoplus if you don't have anything else. Should be free here

If you are on XP, you may have Picture It Publishing. It's very easy to use.

Further to my last.

This refers to paintshop pro, but should be similar in other progs

1. Open both photos.

2. Select with selection tool the required area. A square will do.

3. Resize to get scale correct.

4. Copy.

5. Paste in other photo as new layer.

6. Use erase tool to erase the bits of the pasted photo not required.

7. Flatten new photo and save.

A number of programs will do this quite easily. What software are you using?.

Windows Paint is a bit limited, Serif Photopaint is free from the link provided by siouxah1. Free support from the Serif PhotoPlus Forum click here
