TP-Link Powerline Adapter (TL-WPA281) wifi does not have a valid ip configuration

Hi there, I recently bought the TP-Link Powerline Adapter to extend the range of the wifi signal into the top floor. I have a BT router and a packard bell laptop with windows 8.1. It did work very well with the ethernet cable. I do need it to work wirelessly though. I can connect the the adapter to the internet, however it says that the wifi does not have a valid ip configuration and that the network is not identified. Please help me!
