Total Lock Up

Locked

When I install service pack 2 on my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo K7600, it runs for a few minutes and then stops.
The mouse won't move, you can't ctrl-alt-delete it, you can't type.
The only solution is to switch it off by pressing and holding the power button.
Uninstalling SP2 then doesn't help as it still locks up the same.
Any ideas?

Hi, this sounds more like a Mouse problem, that is, if you are using a Cordless Mouse??

  James-286079 15:47 28 Nov 04

No it isn't a mouse problem.
The whole system just stops.

Have you made sure you have cleaned your PC from spyware, viruses etc. Read > click here

Hi again, I suggested Mouse (if cordless) because I had exactly the same problem a little while ago, and someone else on this forum, also had the same problem caused by dodgy mouse. If you mouse is not cordless, another possible cause could be loose connection somewhere. Good luck anyway.

Check temp of cpu to ensure not overheating. I had a similar problem for months eventuslly nrrowed it down to graphics card, replaced the card and all going well

Yeah I do still have problems.

PC is free from viruses, spyware, adware etc. etc., has normal (non cordless) mouse.

Any other ideas anybody?

The CPU isn't getting too hot. The fan switches on and off normally.
It seems to be a software/drivers problem but it is hard to replace anything as it is a laptop.
