Toshiba touchpad sensitivity problems

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite Pro A60 about a year ago. Over the last few months it seems my Touch & Launch pad is becoming increasingly sensitive! My wife also has a Toshiba and she has been having the exact same problem. While working in a document or (especially) when scrolling down a page, all of a sudden my working document freezes while the touchpad launches itself into life, brings up a load of shortcuts which I can't get rid off until I open one (and then have to close)- before I can resume working again. Recently I've also noticed it no longer waits for me to select a program to open - it just suddenly launches a program while I'm working at something else. I've been working around the problem for ages but its just becoming a real pain. Anyone else had this sort of problem? Better still, anyone got a solution?
Cheers, Mart

Surprised not to have had any response to my earlier query. Have always had several helpful responses to other problems I've posted on this site in the past. Can't believe I've found a problem that has stumped everyone??? Any helpful suggestions would be most appreciated.

Don't know if this will help but it's worth looking at.

It's the user manual in pdf format, trouble shooting(look at chapter nine touch pad)
