I have the above model and I play dvd's on it but how do I find out if it is a dvd writer, this is the link showing spec if it helps

Right, so it is a writer also.

I normally burn audio tracks using WMP to rip them to hard drive then Nero to burn them to cd.

I average about 18 tracks to a cd,if I use a blank dvd.....
1- Can I do the same as above
2- Roughly how many tracks will fit on a dvd.
3-The only places I would want to play the dvd would be my laptop and my dvd attached to tv so what format do they have to be burnt to

CDs are usually 700MB whereas DVDs are 4.7 GB something like 7x larger (if my maths is right!)

The issue is do you have DVD burning software? I do not use Nero since I have Roxio to do it. WMP does not have the facility strangely. Normally your burn DVDs in the same format as Cds.

Your laptop is a good spec so I think Toshiba may have bundled some for you.
