It could be your CMOS battery needs replacing.

On boot up press the F2 key to enter system setup, change the date and time using the arrow keys on the keyboard, and Esc key to exit.

recap.. i presume that i would have to do this every time i boot up...

Make a note of the number on the back of it first and get a replacement. Don`t remove it before you do. Its probably a CR2032. If you change it quickly you won`t lose all your settings.

If it is just the system clock that is wrong and not the CMOS battery, then no, it's a once only thing. That is as long as you are using the system regularly.

thanks Taff ( sorry dont know how you get the tm)will give that a go..

If the battery has already failed, the CMOS setting will have been lost anyway and you will be back to the defaults - which my be perfectly OK for you.

Just highlight Taff™, right click select copy then paste.
