Time changes

Changes in the desktop time, are usually an indicator that the BIOS battery is in decline- so that I am aware of.
The phenomenon I experienced recently would seem to point to more of a system thing.
But what?
On starting up on Sunday last, the time was an hour slow - exactly one hour not a few minutes .
Corrected it and for as few days all was exactly as it should be
Yesterday - exactly one hour out again- corrected it
So far today - all is OK
Any thoughts?

Before you decide its a system thing, have you actually changed the CMOS battery for a new one...

No not yet- but I wont bother - for a while anyway- so far this week its been OK- so unless it gets really bad or indicates a battery problem then I will.
