Every time I move / copy files, especially images, I am seing a loads of files called "thumbs.db" which is apprantly a database file.

My question is: Can they just be deleted and / or can anything be done to stop them appearing at all?

database file used by windows to generate and keep track of thumbnails view in My computer.

Can be safely deleted as windows will just recreate as necessary.

I was wondering about this too and decided to have a quick look here. Thanks for confirming what I thought fellers - but what are "Thumbs" anyway and why is there such a database?

PS to the last- OK I know they are a data base, but why if they dont affect anything is there a warning that 'some information may be lost'? What information and why,if it is not important to the average bloke shifting images around, does the warning and option have to be given anyway?
