Threatfire Update Engine

  johnincrete 09:29 07 Dec 09

I was trying to search for a file and stopped the search (see separate post). I could still hear disk activity and then I got the message that ThreatFire Update Engine had a problem and did I want to inform Microsoft.

I have not knowingly downloaded ThreatFire.
I have PCTools SpyWare Doctor running and am happy with it.

Any ideas where ThreatFire came from?
Would it be best to uninstall it?
Their web site says that it improves protection when running alongside other virus protectors - but then they would wound't they!

I used to run ThreatFire, then I got rid of it. When I discovered it was conflicting with other programmes and made my system run slow.
