looking at buying a tft 17inch monitor are they any good and if so what should i look for spec wise.

Make sure resolution is at least 1280x1024 for (4:3) screens.

Try to get as low response time as possible e.g. 16ms

Also make sure that it is quite bright. e.g. 400cd/m^2

You may also want to consider maximum viewing angle.

Try to use one before you buy. Some people cannot get on with them. Myself? I wouldn't have a TFT monitor even it it were a gift. About half my staff use them, the others detest them.

I've got a 15" TFT and I swear the viewing size is as big as my 17" CRT. Chech the size out at PC World maybe you want need a 17" therefore much cheaper. HTH TR
