Tft monitor help

Can i swap tft monitor over with out turning the tower off as iv just got a new pc and the monitor i got to go with it says 'no signal' so just wanted to try mine first before i take it back, cant shut down normally as i have no screen

Not recommended, as you can do all sorts of damage of the pins touch the wrong contacts. Better just switch off and sort out the Windows problems later.

The monitor should have its own power off/on switch- so switch it of from there and remove the data plug squarely- should be no problem then.

You can switch the tower off safely even if you can't aee anything on the screen by using Ctrl/Alt/del which will bring up the Task Manager even though you can't see it. Then press Alt and U at the same time, followed by U. This will shut the tower down. Then you can safely connect up the new TFT monitor and switch on again to see if it is OK.
