Texas Instruments PCI-1420

I am running Windows XP on my Dell Latitude c-610 .
I have a Texas Instruments PCI-1420 Cardbus Controller installed.
The device manager shows that its working fine and has no conflicts. But if I put any sort of card in the slot it doesn't power it or anything (cards work fine in another laptop).
Its like the controller does nothing! What does this mean, how do I fix it...

I've download all new drivers and the dell diagnostics and it does not show up any faults

Is this still under Warranty? if not use a USB Dongle as Wi-Fi Only about £9 from Aldi

Sorry woodchip it's well out of warranty

It's an old company laptop which I bought when the company upgraded

The one and only usb port died a long time ago

I only use it for surfing and at the moment it's connected up via a Lan line.

I have found out that this is a known problem

Have tried this but it did not work

I have a Medion that as the same problem with PCMCIA not working. On this one it is a Dry joint on the card connection. But cannot see it under a eye glass. But it's got 4 USB2 so it does not matter plus it as a Ethernet connection
