When PC is actually being used, every now and then picture on monitor disappears and it tries to go into standby. If move mouse around screen will come back on but this can happen repeatedly, an absolute swine when playing on-line games! But on other days it doesnt happen at all! use XP home edition (regularly updated), pc few years old but reliable, monitor is iiyama 19" vision master pro 454. Have full mcafee and spysweeper and everything is kept up to date. Any helpful suggestions/remedies please?
Many thanks

It could be a problem with power settings, the video card, the video driver or the monitor.
Ist suggestion, go int Power Options from the Control Panel and under the Power Scheme tab set the 'turn off monitor' option to Never.
If the problem persists, try reinstalling the video card driver.
Still no luck, try swapping the monitor.
Still no luck, try a new video card.
