Telephone ring and microfilters

This is not a query but may help others.

A microfilter did not have a bell wire circuit within it, causing old phones not to ring.

It does not matter for modern phones as they use only the two voice wires.

Other microfilters retain the full 3 wire circuit.

The bell circuit can interfere with the ADSL quality. Hence the temptation to eliminate it.

Having swapped filters several times whilst testing for other problems, it took me ages to track down why this problem had creapt into the phone/computer wiring set up.
