technical question

My sons have a 3 year old comp never had a problem with it then 2 weeks ago it would turn it self off 5-10 mins after it had been on.Then a week ago it wont turn on at all.
Any ideas?

the system shut down, Right click on a blank area of the desktop and select Properties then choose Screen saver and then Settings lower down the window, in there is some settings for power managment.

Then also this could be a Overheating Problem, like a blocked or Failed Cooling fan on a CPU, Grpahics Card or even in the Power Supply. or if you have a AMD CPU the Thermal soloution paste could be worn out (Evaperated) and thats causing it to shut down.

What make of machine and are you confident to go inside and check the fans ?

No messages before shut down my hubby checked the fans and switch(he thought thats what it might be) but both seem fine

Hubby has just checked there is power in the cable but not in the machine does that mean its basically had it
