Taskbar icons, unable to delete from past items

  VCR97 11:42 19 Jan 04

I am using XP + SP1. I have uninstalled (properly) three programs which had placed icons in the notification area of the taskbar. The search facility can now find no trace of these programs on the system. However, if I go to Taskbar>Properties>Customise, I see all three icons in the Past Items list complete with (inoperative) drop-down menus. How can I get rid of these icons as there doesn't seem to be a delete facility. I can't find anything in Help or TweakUI.

i take it you are not able to right click and delete? how about exploring c drive and finding them in program files?
hope it helps.

Thanks both. Correct, johnny, right-clicking does nothing. Fortunately I didn't need to explore C drive. Thanks, Powerless, for the link to the MS solution.
