Taskbar Icons

On my taskbar, I seem to have lost the icon that tells me when I am connected to the internet.

How do I get it back?

I am not connected to a network, but there is an icon for networking, can I get rid of that one?

Using XP?

If so, to go network connections and right click on the relevant connection and under properties it should give the option to display notification in task bar when connected.

To have your internet connection icon in the System Tray, right click the connection in the Network Connections folder and select Properties. Tick the box "Show icon in notification area when connected".

To remove the network icon, which probably has a red cross indicating "network cable disconnected", again in the Network Connections folder, right click the "Local Area Connection" and select Disable.
