TalkTalk and Firefox

I've wanted to try out Firefox - partially because many of my friends use it and partially because I'm having a few problems with my IE browser (or so I'm told),
But some while ago I discovered that TalkTalk (well, Onetel as it was then) didn't support Mozilla Thunderbird and I wondered if I'd have problems with Firefox, so I let things stand.
Now I've just tried to download Firefox only for an error message to appear, the main body of which is.....“The proxy server is refusing connections.
Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.”
Being a mere amateur computer user, what does all that mean and can I use Firefox and Thunderbird with TalkTalk?

I use Firefox virtually 100 per cent with TalkTalk..:-)

From FF's Tools>Options>Advanced tab>Network>Settings Enable Direct Connection to the Internet.

It's usually a case of not seeing the wood for the trees...:-)

Glad it's sorted.
