Tabs and toolbar

Good morning - I would be grateful for some help with a problem I have.

I run Windows 7 and IE8.
To get a new tab to show on my toolbar I have to hold down the "Ctrl" key and then use my mouse to click on the link.

If I don't do this then the new page is hidden under the "e" of Internet Explorer.

Is there a way for this to happen automatically i.e without holding the "Ctrl" key down.

I hope that this made sense - Thank you for your time - Ian

Try clicking links with the middle scroll wheel - this should open any link in a new tab. G

Or tools, internet options, 'change how webpages are displayed in tabs', settings tab, and select 'alway open popups in a new tab', and select 'a new tab in the current window'. Click OK.

Crossbow 7 - thank you for that idea - it worked for me.

rdave13 - thank you for that - but my IE8 was already set up the way you describe - do you think that the fault lies elsewhere ?

By the way, it's an old trick borrowed from Firefox, but only introduced in IE7/8 I think. G
