Are leaving any usb devices, such as cameras, memory sticks, etc. connected?

If so, try disconnecting all before you shut down.

I think i found the answer to my problem,i recently installed realtime player on the computer, hadn't got around to using it until the weekend, when i opened it up i had a load of r't icons with the following messages attached as song titles 'system critical' 'battery low' 'replace battery'. with any bit of lusk when i replace the battery everything should be alright.
ps i had a good laugh when i saw my new song titles
