Systems Setting Protection

Hi I have recently installed Norton Anti Virus and un-installed AVG Anti Virus.
Since then I EVERYTIME I start my PC I get a warning box saying "Systems Setting Protection has encountered a problem." I think it then says it must shut down and send an error message to Microsoft.
What do I need to do to fix things?
I run Win-XP with SP2

Boot to safe mode

Accesories - systemtools - system restore

select a restore point before you installed Norton. then shut down and reboot.

WHY did you decide to unistall AVG and start paying for Norton AV?

Back again, I did the above and it did not work.
When Windows loads at start up I still get the message "system settings protector has encountered an error".

I have uninstalled Norton and reinstalled AVG, but still the error message appears on start up.
