system32 missing

My computer will not load and I get the message that windows system32 is missing or corrupt . I do not have the xp disc and the recovery discs suppliedd do not correct the fault. i am running XP Home and I have hhad a disc lent to me but its XP Professional would it be alright to reformat with this

No you can't reformat with the XP Pro disk as it belongs to another computer. Try going to Start > Run, type/paste in:

Sfc /scannow

and click OK. The required files might be somewhere on you hard drive already.
