System Volume information

there is a folder on my PC called "System Volume information" don't know how it got there, and all access to it is denied even for viewing.
when i gointo safe mode to have a look or try to delete it, it is not shown, My OS is xp home, can anyone tell me anything on this

Do NOT delete it as Windows needs this file/folder..

dont delete it. This folder contains information about your computer and also the restore points. Open windows explorer and click tools/ folder options. then click view then you will see "hidden files and folders" put a check in the "show hidden files" option. You will then be able to view the contents of that folder. Don't change anything in there.
