System shuts down automatically

Shortly after logging on to Windows XP, the computer simply turns itself off for no reason. On attempts to re-login, computer often self switches off before Windows`has even loaded. Eventually it will load and remain on.
Why??

Try restart into safe mode by pressing f8 when booting, then select Safe mode from the menu, then close down completely and start up. Another thing to try is to boot pressing F8 then choose 'Last Known Good Configuration

When Running windows and it crashes you will get a blue screen and it will automatically restart, ofter it will restart too fast for you to see the error message, to disable auto restart on system failure.

1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System (Windows+Pause works, too)
2. Go to Advanced
3. Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...
4. Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"

now restart in normal mode, if it crashes again post the error message here.
