Running Windows XP, how often should a restore point be created. Is it done automatically ?

Automatically every day, providing there is sufficient disc space.

Mine puts a System Checkpoint on every day I use it plus when I install or uninstall programs.

Not sure if this is right or wrong, good or bad.

Hi, automatic in XP, in addition I always create a restore point after doing a good clean-up - Ad-Aware scan, Virus scan, disk cleanup, defrag and after any new install or hardware addition. Then I know I have a good point to get back to if necessary; and it usually is, at some time:-)

For some unknown reason my system is not creating a restore point. It only stores for instance when an automatic update is downloaded or new software is installed. It doesn't create one on a daily basis.

Note Graham's comment above - providing there is sufficient disk space. Are you sure you have enough disk space?

I have 125GB spare

well - that should do then :-)) sorry I can't offer anything more sensible. Good luck anyway.

Are you running a RAMDrive?
