System restore info please

I cannot access a couple of websites since I installed AOL and McAffee, probably something silly that I did. I want to restore to before then. Do I then have to reinstall everything I have put on since? Do I uninstall before I re-install? What about things I have taken off since that time? I looked in windows help but it's a waste of time. Where do I find system restore? I am sure I have seen some answers in PC Advisor but they escape me at the moment.

Start/Help and Support/Pick a task/System Restore.

Thanks. That tells me where to find it but what about the other questions?

"Do I then have to reinstall everything I have put on since?"

Yes

"Do I uninstall before I re-install?"

No

"What about things I have taken off since that time?"

They MAY reappear (if it's software or Registry related - but not Office documents)

Thank you. I shall carry on then.

there seems to be alot of confusion over what system restore actually does.

it replaces only your DLL folder .exe and your registry from a previous snapshot , IT DOES NOTHING ELSE
