System restore

Can anyone please help me. I have been trying to do a system restore at various checkpoints and every time it is unable to complete and i get small red screen come up which says "NAV auto protect unable to intialize the virus scanning engine database files" also since trying system restore my NAV auto protect is disabled and when i go into it to try and configure it i get an internet explorer script error message and i am unable to alter anything.I would be grateful of any help

Has windows been able to do any automatic checkpoints? - start system restore and select "restore my computer to an earlier point), you should be able to see if any restore points have been successful.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Norton.

For the IE error >open IE >go to tools> advanced
