System Recovery Disc

  Ian Clark 09:51 11 Feb 04

I am in the middle of re-building(recovering?) my PC. The recovery disc I have takes me back to 2000 when the PC was purchased.
I have to re-install
Broadband connection
Virus Software
Drivers for several devices
Several software packages
Most of which requires download
And I have to update (download) loads of Microsoft apps.

Can I make my own recovery disc, at the point where I have all the PC set up as I want it? so next time I recover, it takes me back to a point after all these things have been done?

Ok, I would still have to update some stuff, or make regular recovery discs.

Thanks for any help offered

Yes - what you need is called an "image" - Norton Ghost, for example, will create an image which you can restore at any time. As you build the OS, create a few images - eg one with just the OS and its updates, one with software that is critical, another with all updates that you want.

See click here for some info or click here for general backup info.
