Looking for a problem on a friends PC relating to windows restarting most times (but not always) when a DVD is put into the dvd writer.

I tried to run system file checker and was very careful how I typed it in

SFC \scannow with the space after SFC but not after the backslash.

Get a blink of a dos window up but no execution of system file checker. How can I check on the checker??
Will deal with the DVD problem later.

should be sfc /scannow (forward slash)

To do this simply go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow
