System fan speed control

  Quiet Life 13:02 27 May 10

I have just replaced the Asterope 10 mobo and Intel D930 processor on my HP5470 with an Asus P5KPL-AM EPU and Intel E6500 CPU.
The Asterope mobo controlled the speed of both the CPU and system fan according to temperature. The Asus mobo only controls the CPU fan and the system fan now runs constantly at max 3,000 revs. which is far too noisy.
I downloaded Speedfan but it does not work on either of the fans.
It is difficult to understand why a much newer mobo does not provide control of the system fan.
Would bre grateful for details of options available to me.

You should have Asus Q fan utilities which controls the fans connected to the mobo.

Q fan only controls the CPU on this mobo.
Could I piggyback the system fan to the CPU connection or is that going to overload something.
