Synchronising laptop and desktop data with XP

My laptop has XP Pro, my desktop has XP home. Pro has a facility that is supposed to allow me to synchronise data between two connected machines, whereas, according to the MS knowledgebase, XP Home doesn't.

In reality, as far as I can work out, this means that I can update my laptop with the latest versions of files from my desktop, but it doesn't copy updated files from my laptop back to the desktop machine, which is what I would expect "synchorinsed" to mean.

Have I missed a setting somewhere to make the synchronisation two-way? Is there another product that will do this for me?
