Sygate Firewall

I downloaded Sygate personal to my new Win XP system after being happy with it on Win 98. I didn't expect to see so many apps trying to connect to the net and now I don't know which to allow. I also do not recognise most of them. Can anyone offer simple advice please ?
The apps are
Client server run time process
LSA Shell (Export Version)
Generic Host Process for Win32 Services
NDIS User Mode I/O.

I only set permissions for the actual programmes that I was using, internet explorer/messenger/avg/outlook express all others refused.

Say no but don't tick the box till you know what the applications do.

Thanks for the answers. Jimv7 seems to have it right & maybe the site suggested by Billy will help find what the files do. Thanks again
