Is it possible to swap a hard drive from a machine with a damaged screen to an undamaged one?I was using the damaged one through a monitor but it's decided to stop working so that there is no image on the monitor so rather than lose all my files I wanted to transfer them all through the working laptop to my memory stick and then put the original bigger hard drive back in and reload all the files.

only if same machine, as motherboard drivers will conflict and it may not boot.

You are - talking Laptops?

Spend a little and buy a powered case for an external USB HD (assuming you can extract the HD from the dud machine and find a suitable case to fit).

Then you can mount your HD inside and copy all your precious files to whatever you want.

It will come in many times in the future when you want more storage than you have with a memory pen.
