SVHOST Problem- whatever that is

  Amer 20:47 04 Apr 07

Solve one problem, then another arrives!

Hav ehad problems over past week with a graphics card that keeps losing its driver.

Now I am getting this (unrelated?) message intermittently

svchost.exe -- application error the instruction at "0x745f2780" reference memory at "0x00000000". the memory could not be 'read'

Does anybody know what this means and how I fix it?

Once the message comes up it causes all sorts of problems, mainly loss of internet connection and total freeze up

Any help appreciated

Hi Buteman,

Have followed your link suggestion and switched off auto update on Windows and so far so good.

Many thanks

Please make sure it is svchost.exe you are seeing and not scvhost which is a virus.
Note: svchost and scvhost which can deceive when looked at quickly.
