I have had a hellish 3 weeks now of my computer freezing with every thing I do and have been through every possibility with Packard Bell what could be the cause (still under warranty). First it was thought to be the hard drive had gone wrong, having reformatted the computer several times it made no difference. Still it froze. Then I was supplied with new master CDs for Win XP. That made no difference. I was tearing my hair out. Every time I tried to run windows update or scan manually for spyware the thing would freeze ( packard bell imedia with winxp + sp2).
But now having run antispyware and have removed Surfairy it's chugging along just fine - although I still dont dare try to do windows update. By the way this updates just fine when it's on automatic.

any thougths would be appreciated?
