Suggestions for a new P.C

Hi, My computer is aging, and has gradulally got slower than my patientce. Its an athlonxp2000+, 768mb ram, nvidia fx5200 128mb.

I use it mainly for web browsing, emails, college work, webdesign (including a small ammount of web graphics work) and tv on demand.

What i would like is a new computer, I quite fancy a netbook, but was wondering about their performance, it must be better than my current computer. At home it would be plugged in to my monitor and other perphials. Would a net book give me the sort of performance that i need? What are they equivelant to with relation to my current set-up? Any other ideas?

"Any other ideas?"

1) Clean out the hard drive, stop unnecessary programs running all the time, get a speedier anti-virus program, clean the registry, defrag the hard drive.

2) Put Linux on it, some of the lightweight versions would make it fly again.

3) I don't think you'll find a netbook with high enough performance to be really significantly better than you have now. A regular laptop perhaps, but not a netbook.
