Suggestions for free image editor for W98 please

  Indigo 1 13:51 14 Jul 05

My friend is trying to email large digital pictures form his 5 Megapixel digicam, using dial-up and W98.

Obviously this takes him ages and costs too much.

Which program is best to reduce the images to make them suitable for emailing, preferably free and must be easy to use ? He cannot afford Photoshop (which is what I use) and I don't know a better way to do this.

Any suggestions and download links appreciated.

Equally good is Picassa2 from:

A simple free picture resizer is available from click here, if all you want to do is change the picture sizes. It'll do both single and batch.

You should find several on old magazine freebee discs.

Thanks for that it looks ideal for novices, and so simple a child could use it yet effective enough for anyones needs, quick and simple too.

Thanks guys, there are plenty there to get started with so I will pass on your suggestions to him and see what he makes of them.

PixResizer is first class for just basically resizing files; however, I have this, Picassa2 and the remarkable Irfanview all on my system, along with one or two others, as at least one will serve the purpose I require at that particular time.
