Stuggling to connect to WAN from LAN via BDC

Hope someone can help!
We have a LAN connecting through a BDC to our WAN. One users machine keeps being unable to connect to exchange server for email. The only resolution appears to be to uninstall and reinstall TCP/IP on the LAN connection. This works once but then will drop if one exits outlook. Then you can't even ping externally from our segment and are back to square 1. We use Checkpoint securemote for dial up connections but not through LAN. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance

Not sure if this will help, but do you have WINS installed on the server?

Apparently, failure to install WINS can lead to unpredictable failures and I was wondering if this was the case in your situation.
